Artists Have Long Called Sarasota Home
Artists of Sarasota curates creative works featuring the abundant talent of both emerging and lifelong Sarasota artists. Local landscapes and seascapes are captured with oils, acrylics, watercolors and photographs in addition to other unique mediums.
Florida’s Gulf Coast has a rich history of attracting diversely talented fine artists to its shores. Sarasota, in particular, is known for its vibrant arts scene making it the cultural center of west central Florida. This designation as a cultural — and educational — center is the vision and legacy left by John and Mable Ringling. John was one of the 20th Centuries most prolific art collectors and his wife, Mable, shared his passion.
Sarasota is home to the Ringling Museum of Art, an architectural gem housing John and Mable’s art collection, as well as Ringing College of Art and Design, New College, Florida State University’s Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training, Selby Botanical Gardens and world famous Siesta Key beach with its soft, white, pure Quartz sand.
Artists and creative influencers keep Ringling’s vision alive and well by capturing flora and fauna of Florida’s natural habitat, historic buildings and landmarks. Artists of Sarasota gives art enthusiasts, serious collectors and Florida travelers the opportunity to bring home gulf coast memories.
